Needless to say there was no sign of yesterdays Arctic Terns this morning; or much else for that matter. 2 Swallow flew south mid morning along with a few Meadow Pipits. One of the Chiloe Wigeon was again present with the Mallards.

Shustoke Reservoir lies two miles east of Coleshill on the B4114 Coleshill to Furnace End Road, south of the River Bourne. At 1.5km west to east, the main pool is only 400m at its widest point. The River Bourne feeds the smaller eastern pool (8 acres), the water is then transferred to the main reservoir (92 acres). Disturbance at weekends can be a problem.

Todays highlight was an adult Yellow legged Gull, which dropped in with 3 adult Herring and 10+ LBB Gull mid morning. 5 Swallow flew low south over the small pool early morning, and there was a steady passage of Meadow Pipit (around 100 per hour counted at nearby Marsh Lane NR late morning). On the plastic front, what was presumably one of last months Chiloe Wigeon was present again at the east end of the main pool.

Very little of note today during a quick check of the site mid morning. Again small numbers of Meadow Pipit flew south, along with good numbers of Swallow. By far the most notable sighting this morning was a Stoat, which ran along the bottom of the gate by the jetty heading towards the pool.
