April 9th.

Kittiwake (adult) ........on the main pool.

A Dark-bellied Brent Goose at 9-15 flying north over the pool , also an adult Kittiwake mid-morning (K Wimbush). A visit at 17-00 to see if the Kittiwake was still present and to my suprise it was still their, it was the only Gull on the pool. It was sat on the water right in the middle and in good light but just to far for any decent images.It flew towards the eastern end giving Dave and myself a bit of a chance for photography. Also present 1 Common Sandpiper by the sailing club, 1 White Wagtail on the southern shore, and a few House Martins amongst a good number of Swallows. 3 Blackcaps were heard along with 2 Chiffchaff and 2 R L Partridge in the ploughed field. Also noted Grey Wagtail and 4 Gadwall. (S Seal, D Hutton). 2 Common Sands were seen earlier in the day by (T Perrins).

April 8th.

First House Martins today with 2 over the pool, also 8 Swallow, 300+ Sand Martin, 2 Willow Warbler, 5 Blackcap and 6 R L Partridge (L Johnson). Common Sandpiper this evening another first for the year, (B Kington). Early morning 2 Wheatear (P Forbes).

April 7th.

Late evening, 9 Goosanders (3 drakes & 2 sub-adult drakes),230 Sand Martins, 12 Swallows, still no House Martins, 3 Gadwall, 1 Redshank and a Grey Wagtail, (B Kington).

April 6th Spring as Arrived.

With an overnight covering of snow the temptation was to great to get out and do some early morning photography. A 7-00 o,clock start was just what the doctor ordered.
Chiffchaff..in full song. One of several heard this morning.

An early morning trip around the pool, 170 Sand Martin, 12 Swallow, 3 Shoveler, 2 Gadwall, 2 Goosanders, Redshank, Oystercatcher, Grey Wagtail and Blackcap. (B Kington).

April 3rd.

Goosanders .....A pair this evening on the main pool.

This morning at the pool , 10 Gadwall, 4 Teal, 4 Chiffchaff, 3 Blackcap, 2 Tree Sparrows, and Little Owl, (B Kington). A late report from last Friday, Stonechat (P Forbes). This evening 18-00 / 19-15, weather calm, mild and sunny. 4 Chiffchaff, 1 male Blackcap, 4 Gadwall, 2 Grey Wagtails, 18 Pied Wagtails, 1 pair Goosanders, 2 Tree Sparrows, 3 Yellowhammers, 2 Mistle Thrush, 1 R L Partridge , 2 Green Woodpeckers and a Treecreeper. (S Seal).

April 2nd.

At the pool this afternoon, 2 Willow Warblers , 1 Swallow , first reports for both these species this year . Also 3 Blackcaps and 9 R L Partridge, (L Johnson).A quick visit at 18-30 this evening, weather dull with light drizzle. Swallow was just in front of the car park, my first one this year and 2 pair Goosanders on the water. (S Seal , D Hutton).
