September 12th

With clear skys last night the Grey Phalarope was no where to be seen this morning. One juvenile Common Tern put in an apperrence mid morning but soon departed. Highlight was two Lesser Whitethroats, showing well feeding on berrys along the hedgeline to the west of the car park. A male Blackcap was also present in the same area and 8 Chiffchaff were scattered around the main pool. 2 Hobby and a Raven flew over all heading east. Kingfisher and Grey Wagtail were present along the river. Gadwall numbers on the pools had dropped down again to 3 birds with only 15 Shovler present. Finaly there was a notable count of Red Legged Partrige, with 7 birds noted in a ploughed field to the west of the main pool.
